About “When The House Fell”

“Some stories aren’t just told—they’re lived. This is mine.”

Born on a sun-drenched April morning in 1984 Savannah, Georgia, Andrea’s life began in the embrace of love, legacy, and the layered complexity of family. But when home was lost and dreams shifted, she found herself navigating the raw realities of public housing, neighborhood politics, first love, heartbreak, and survival.

From Fellwood to Fred Wessels, from scraped knees to scraped hearts, from cheerleading practices to secret phone calls and first kisses, Andrea’s story is deeply rooted in place and people—a Southern coming-of-age memoir filled with rhythm, resilience, and revelations. It’s a story of a strong mama, a cherished daddy, and a girl growing into herself with grace and grit.
Told with fierce honesty and rich, lyrical detail, this memoir is a love letter to a complicated childhood, a fractured but powerful family, and the girl who never stopped rising—even when the world tried to hold her down.
For readers, this is a voice you won’t forget—and a life that reminds us that even in the hardest places, beauty and brilliance can bloom. This is the first book in a powerful series chronicling one woman’s journey through the joy, pain, and transformation of growing up. Andrea’s story doesn’t end here—and neither will her voice.
